About the Club

With a legacy of swimming excellence in New Zealand, the QEII Swim Club, located at the modern Taiora QEII Recreation and Sport Centre in Christchurch, provides a supportive and nurturing environment for young swimmers. Led by the club committee, we are committed to helping our future champions grow into confident adults and achieve their highest potential.

Training Squads

Our team training fosters a supportive environment where we push each other to achieve our best, hold each other accountable, and celebrate every milestone and victory with enthusiasm. Our squad pathway is designed to empower swimmers of all abilities, providing the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to become future champions. Swimming instils valuable life skills and behaviours, fostering personal growth and providing a lifelong sport. The friendships forged in our team create bonds that last a lifetime.

Coaches

Starting in 2025, the QEII Swim Club is excited to have Matt Houston join us as Head Coach. Matt brings over 12 years of coaching experience at Wharenui Swimming Club where he worked with numerous national age group title champions, Canterbury record holders and coached Paris Paralympian and two-time World Championship finalist Lili-Fox Mason.

Matt's passion for developing well-rounded individuals, emphasising hard work, skill acquisition, and a drive for excellence aligns perfectly with our club's vision for the future.

Take the next step

We are super excited to have new members join our club but there are some things we need to check before you join. As our squads have some pretty fast swimmers, we need to make sure our squads are the right place. All new competitive squad members need to be able to swim 200m freestyle with tumble turns, 50m of breaststroke and 50m backstroke with correct turns and 25m of butterfly.
